Geopark Visitor Centre
This centre introduces the geological history of both Hong Kong and the geopark. Interactive elements are used to present the geological messages in an easy-to-understand
way. The centre also has special designs to cater for the needs of both children and adults. Simple text for children is presented by the Geofolks on the panel.
Opening Hours：from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily, except Tuesdays.
Hong Kong’s first outdoor display of 28 large specimens of local
rocks. It is a comprehensive collection of Hong Kong’s major volcanic,
granitic and sedimentary rocks, and allows visitors of all ages to
learn about, observe and touch the varied rocks of Hong Kong in one
place. The trail is wheelchair accessible and the interpretation
panels are also in Braille. An activity folder called “Rock Academy”
has been published to help children learn more about rocks in or away
from the centre.
The Rock Classroom is an
activity room where primary and secondary students can learn about
rocks. The games and activities give students hands-on experience as
they learn about the diverse geological features of Hong Kong and
increase their awareness of the importance of geo-conservation.
